As the only Academic Health Center in Oregon, Oregon Health and Science University has as one of its primary missions to provide cutting-edge services to the citizens of the state. The School of Nursing has been engaged in a deliberative process to strategically position ourselves to better serve the health care needs of the citizens of Oregon. Specific care models and practice areas were chosen that met these criteria (1)strong public need and demand, (2) the potential for sustainable funding streams, (3) goodness of fit with the School's research and curricular emphases, with the capacity for facilitating optimal integration of research, practice and education.
You will find in our program descriptions an emphasis on healthy aging, and the improved care of the most frail, innovative primary care in rural and underserved areas, wellness services of all kinds, with special attention to coaching for improvement of individual and family selfcare competency, and the support of community conditions essential to health.
