The Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence (CGNE)

The Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence (CGNE) is part of a major initiative by the John A. Hartford Foundation, Inc. to build academic geriatric nursing capacity. One of five Centers funded nationally, the CGNE at the School of Nursing at Oregon Health Sciences University is dedicated to preparing nurse leaders who are committed to improving the health and health care of older adults.

Center for Research on Symptom Management in Life-Threatening Illness

Symptom management is an important component of nursing practice across care settings, client populations, and type of practice. Although the value of symptom management is widely recognized, the research base supporting practice is best characterized as uneven with extensive research on symptoms like pain and relatively little attention to problems like thirst and itching.
