The Center for Healthy Aging The Healthy Aging Project is an 18-month clinical demonstration project. The project is open to individuals over the age of 40, with special emphasis on enrolling people over 60 years of age. The Healthy Aging Project will focus on setting individual health goals and encouraging progress toward those goals through varied mechanisms including nurse coaching, support for health behavior improvement and coordination of the full continuum of health services. The Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence (CGNE) The Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence (CGNE) is part of a major initiative by the John A. Hartford Foundation, Inc. to build academic geriatric nursing capacity. One of five Centers funded nationally, the CGNE at the School of Nursing at Oregon Health Sciences University is dedicated to preparing nurse leaders who are committed to improving the health and health care of older adults. Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence Center for Research on Symptom Management in Life-Threatening Illness Symptom management is an important component of nursing practice across care settings, client populations, and type of practice. Although the value of symptom management is widely recognized, the research base supporting practice is best characterized as uneven with extensive research on symptoms like pain and relatively little attention to problems like thirst and itching.
