Ph.D.
Program of Study
Doctoral students choose to focus their studies in one of several areas
of research strengths within the School of Nursing. Prospective Ph.D.
students may choose to focus their studies in one of several areas of
research strengths within the School. Faculty mentors provide the guidance
in developing programs of study, research opportunities and collegial
relationships. The School has considerable depth of research an scholarship
in family caregiving, healthy aging and elder care, risk assessment and
management, dementia-related care, domestic violence and end-of-life issues,
and it is building programs in the areas of symptom management in life
threatening illness (e.g., heart disease and cancer) and chronic conditions
(e.g., fibromyalgia), and in heath care delivery (e.g., telehealth and
rural health).
In addition to these areas, doctoral students collaborate across disciplines.
The School is interconnected with other acclaimed OHSU research programs
and centers, such as the cancer center, heart institute, center for healthy
aging, women's health and the Alzheimer's and Parkinson's centers.
OHSU is a participating university in the Western Interstate Commission
