GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN PUBLIC HEALTH

Oregon Masters of Public Health
(Graduate Certificate)

The Graduate Certificate in Public Health (GCPH) is open to applicants with a bachelor's degree in any discipline. Please note: this is not a nursing program.

Target Student Population

The GCPH is designed for prospective students currently employed in public health as well as those interested in public health in general but unable to commit to the full Masters of Public Health program. The GCPH is designed for qualified applicants with clearly identified professional goals that are consistent with the anticipated training and desirous of assuming an expanded clinical, leadership, or coordination role in the provision of public health.

Admissions Requirements

Applicants must meet these requirements for admission into the GCPH Program, including:
• Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA
• Submission of:

  • OHSU GCPH paper application, including appropriate application essays and payment of application fee;
  • Official transcripts from all college institutions ever attended, indicating completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university;
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae;
  • 3 letters of academic and professional reference.

All complete applications are reviewed for admission. Applicants are evaluated on the cumulative GPA from all previous coursework, professional experience, application essays, letters of recommendation, and overall fit for the program.

GCPH students are able to complete the 19-21 quarter credit hour program of study full-time (two courses per term) over four terms, or part-time (one course per term) over two to three years. GCPH students are subject to the Oregon MPH and OHSU SON progression standards once matriculated. Students successfully completing the GCPH will be eligible to matriculate into any track within the Oregon MPH and will have the 19 credits of coursework applied to their MPH program.

The GCPH program has received approval from the OUS Provost's Committee and will run pending notification of the Board and NWCCU.
