NURSE-MIDWIFERY

What You Will Study and Learn

The nurse-midwifery program at OHSU School of Nursing teaches students to manage common gynecological problems, family planning, pregnancy, birth and the newborn period. Moreover, the program emphasizes the unique health care needs of women. The influences of family, culture and tradition, as well as social, economic and political forces serve as the context for our care of women, from menarche through menopause.

The faculty believes that the program offers strong clinical experience with a focus on evidence-based practice. Each student is involved in over 150 outpatient visits and completes 30 to 50 births in the course of the program. Clinical sites include multi-ethnic prenatal clinics and Level II and Level III hospitals.
