Founded
in 1926 the OHSU School of Nursing has played a key role in training nurses
for nearly a century. With a history of academic and clinical excellence
and a commitment to teaching, healing, community service and research,
the school provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to learn
in a health care and research oriented environment.
The OHSU School of Nursing offers two doctoral programs to help prepare
nurses for expanded teaching, research, and clinical roles. Funding opportunities
are also available for students in these programs.
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP): The DNP program
is designed as a practice-based doctoral program that prepares nurses
to be leaders in innovative practice. Nurses who are interested in becoming
an Advanced Practice Nurses are encouraged to apply on the BS-DNP pathway.
Current APN or Nurse Practitioners are eligible to apply as post master’s

Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD): The
PhD program is a research-focused doctoral program that prepares nurses
to conduct innovative research and be key leaders in the field of nursing.
Nurses can go directly into the PhD program on the BS-PhD pathway or they
can apply to this program as post master’s applicants. Click here
