Graduate
Programs – Now Offered at Regional Campuses! Announcing a New Masters in Nursing Education Program! This
program is designed for the bachelors prepared nurse who is interested
in pursuing a career in teaching nursing - either as a faculty member
in a school of nursing or in staff development positions. There are two
specialties currently available: Community Health
Nursing or Gerontological Nursing, each
with emphasis on nursing education. The 49-55 credit masters' program
will begin in Fall 2007. There are both part-time and full-time options.
The coursework involves 16 credits of core course work, (e.g. coursework
related to evidence-based practice, health disparities, knowledge development
in nursing) 12-15 credits in a specialty (either community health or gero),
12-15 credits in nursing education, 9 credits of electives and a 6 credit
optional masters' research project. Some of the coursework is currently
available online, and we expect the program to be fully available in a
distance delivery format (combination of online with some intensive workshops)
by Fall of 08. There is some practicum required in each area - core, specialty
and teaching. Please
send questions about program information to proginfo@ohsu.edu.
