Abstract Deadline Extension Announced

WIN is using a new online abstract submission form this year, and it has become apparent that a small deadline extension will help a number of submitters who are becoming familiar with the new electronic form. Please submit your abstracts no later than 5:00 PM (Pacific time) on Monday, October 20, 2008. It is hoped that an extra weekend will be useful to submitters.

Important Links for Abstract Submitters

We’re providing important links for the use of our abstract submitters. This information is also located in the Call for Abstracts. To submit an individual abstract for Podium or Poster presentation, go to: http://win.confex.com/win/2009/general/papers/index.cgi.
For symposium submissions, go to: http://win.confex.com/win/2009/symposia/sessions/index.cgi.

Do you need to return to your abstract for the purpose of completing, editing or replacing it? The following link will take you to the “Log into an Existing Submission” page: http://win.confex.com/win/2009/cfp.cgi. You will need your abstract number and password to log in.

Call for Abstract Reviewers

WIN is issuing its annual call for Abstract Reviewers. The criteria for reviewers is as follows:

(1) Be a current WIN member;
(2) Have previously completed at least one postdoctoral review activity; and
(3) Have an earned doctorate degree.

We anticipate that the reviews will occur between November 1 and November 14. Based on past years, each reviewer will be assigned to 10-12 abstracts. We count on those who agree to complete the reviews, so please make sure you have sufficient time to complete your assignment between November 1 and November 14.

If you meet criteria (1) and (3), but have not previously completed at least one postdoctoral review activity, WIN offers a mentoring experience. We will pair you with an experienced abstract reviewer. Those who have participated in the experience previously indicate that it has been a highly positive and professionally rewarding experience. If you would like a mentored experience, please fill out the form as far as you can and contact Donna Brousseau whose email link is located in the form. We will then connect you with a WIN member who will assist you through the process.

The link to the abstract reviewers form is at: http://win.confex.com/win/2009/cfr.cgi. We appreciate your assistance in this important way.
