Pediatric Research
Research Laboratories
Pediatric research laboratories are primary located in the Hatfield Research Center (HRC), the Child Development & Rehabilitation Center (CDRC) and the new Biomedical Research Building (BRB). Altogether, the laboratories occupy approximately 20,000 sq. ft., a surface currently shared by 17 active research teams. Laboratory research activity is supported by a departmental team headed by Dr. Roullet, that reports to the Vice-Chair for Research: Qianyue Yang (general lab staff support & maintenance manager), Betty Bogacz (administrative support), Bill Kidd (financial analyst), and Cheryl Lewis (ordering). Pediatric research laboratories are the home for 30 active research grants (21 pending) November 14, 2006. We encourage everyone interested in research to explore this page. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the exciting research that takes place in our labs and to participate in the discoveries that will shape pediatric care in the future.
Dr. Roullet has published several high-impact publications in the field of lipid metabolism and function, vascular physiology and pharmacology. He is the lead author in the report that first characterized the regulatory role of endogenous alcohols in mammalian neuronal signaling, and has discovered a highly promising link between these alcohols and the Sjogren-Larsson Syndrome, a rare inherited metabolic disease affecting children. |
Jean-Baptiste Roullet, Ph.D., Research Associate Professor , is the Manager of the Pediatrics Research Laboratories and the Clinical Research Director of the Division of Metabolism. He earned degrees in Pharmacy and Laboratory Medicine in Paris, France and practiced Clinical Chemistry for several years before joining the OHSU faculty in 1989.
