Metabolism
The Metabolic Clinic is the only one of its kind in Oregon. It provides diagnostic and management services to patients from Oregon and the entire Pacific Northwest with inherited disorders of metabolism. The clinic also provides telephone consultation for physicians throughout the region with questions regarding disorders of metabolism. Clinic staff includes four metabolic physicians, two metabolic dieticians, and an experienced medical assistant. Special areas of expertise include disorders of amino acid, fatty acid and glucose metabolism, mitochondrial diseases, lysosomal storage disorders, degenerative neurological conditions, bone diseases, and disorders of metal metabolism. Clinic physicians also serve as consultants for the Oregon Newborn Screening Program, which provides state of the art newborn screening for all infants born in Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada and New Mexico.
The team conducts a metabolic clinic twice weekly at Doernbecher and holds
outreach clinics in Eugene, and Medford, Oregon.
