OHSU Family Medicine/Preventive Medicine Residency Program
The Combined Family Medicine/Preventive Medicine Residency at Oregon Health & Science University is a university and community based four-year training program that aspires to excel in patient care, population-based medicine, teaching and research. This innovative residency track was developed through a collaboration between the Department of Family Medicine, the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, and the Clackamas County Public Health Division in 1995. The residency admits two applicants each year and graduates are board eligible in both Family and Preventive Medicine in just 4 years. Graduates of the program hold positions in academic family medicine, medical management, research, global health, at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and at local and state public health agencies. Most combine research, management and other population-based activities with clinical practice. The curriculum accommodates residents who enter with or without an MPH, as residents entering without an MPH will have an opportunity to earn this degree as part of the training program.
