Valerie King, MD, MPH

Valerie King, MD, MPH is a 1991 honors graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, and the UNC Family Practice (1994) and Preventive Medicine Residency Programs (2000). She received her MPH from the UNC Department of Epidemiology in 1997. She has been a Robert Wood Johnson (RWJ) Clinical Scholar, and a RWJ Generalist Faculty Scholar.

Dr. King joined OHSU Family Medicine in January 2004. Her clinical expertise is in the care of women and children, including family-centered maternity care. Her research interests include evidence-based healthcare, maternal and child health, women’s health, and healthcare decision-making. She is the Associate Director of the John M. Eisenberg Clinical Decisions and Communications Science Center at OHSU, funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

Dr. King was born and raised in Idaho and her personal interests include food, tennis, books and films and her greyhounds Chip and Clive.
