OHSU FAMILY MEDICINE Academic Programs

The Department of Family Medicine sponsors a wide range of academic programs in addition to our residencies. In predoctoral education, we sponsor required curriculum time in all four years of the medical school and an extensive family medicine student interest group.
Our behavioral science program includes required resident rotations, a support group for residents, Balint group, experiences for faculty and residents and frequent behavior medicine teaching with students.
OHSU Family Medicine has several programs that relate to community outreach and rural health. We have a strong relationship with the Oregon AHEC and sponsor continuing medical education programs for practicing physicians.
Over the past 2 years, we have developed an extensive faculty development program that includes one and two year fellowships, formal faculty development coursework and a program to provide teaching skills to volunteer and community faculty.
Finally, our department has a vigorous program for scholarship that has produced 7 textbooks and 32 peer reviewed articles in the past 2 years. OHSU has some of the finest family medicine academic programs in the country.
