Past President (DS4)

Attends all monthly meetings. Serves an advisory role and provides assistance when needed. Guides the election process for officers. Writes articles for the Oralgonian. Attends ASDA Annual Session
 

President (DS3)

Presides as chairperson and oversees ASDA activities. Appoints a member of ASDA to any vacant office for the expired term with approval of the majority of the executive council. Sees that the will of ASDA is carried out in accordance with the constitution. Is responsible for the Annual Exhibitor’s Fair. Schedules and attends monthly meetings. Attends ASDA Tri-Regional meeting and Annual Session. Is responsible for making travel arrangements for ASDA Tri-Regional meeting and Annual Session. Manages the OHSU ASDA bank account. Write articles for the Oralgonian. Will serve as Past President at the conclusion of his/her term.
 

Vice President (DS2)

Works closely with the President in organizing the Annual Exhibitor’s Fair. Attends monthly meetings. Attends ASDA Tri-Regional meeting and Annual Session. Works with the Secretary on the Ideal ASDA Chapter Award project. Writes articles for the Oralgonian. Assumes the responsibilities of the President at the end of the President’s term or any time during that term when the President is unable to perform their duties. Presides in the absence of the President.
 

Secretary (DS1)

Takes minutes at all ASDA meetings, types them, maintains careful records of all pertinent ASDA business and communicates it to the entire student body. Presides in the absence of the Vice President and President and represents OHSU-ASDA as the ASDA Alternate Delegate at the Tri-Regional meeting and at Annual Session. Maintains the file and facilities of the ASDA office. Assists with the Annual Exhibitor’s Fair. Completes the Ideal ASDA Chapter Award project. Writes articles for the Oralgonian.
 

Career Development Liaison

Organizes and advertise at least 2 “lunch and learns” per month. Collects handouts from all “lunch and learns” to be included in the Ideal ASDA Handbook. May attend Tri-Regional meetings and Annual Session depending on funding. Writes articles for the Oralgonian.
 

Historian

Maintains a record of all events (photos, signs, etc) to be included in the Ideal ASDA Handbook. Maintains the ASDA bulletin board on a monthly basis. Interviews and advertises the ASDA-sponsored Student of the Month.

Writes articles for the Oralgonian. May attend Tri-Regional meetings and Annual Session depending on funding.

 

Pre-Dental Consultant

Works in conjunction with the Dean of Admissions and Student Affairs to promote the dental school to interested pre-dental students. Participates in Explorer’s Post program and Aspects of Dentistry course. Serves as liaison for colleges and universities interested in starting ASDA pre-dental chapters, and contacts other institutions in our region that have not established pre-dental chapters. Writes articles for the Oralgonian. May attend Tri-Regional meetings and Annual Session depending on funding.

 

Legislative Liaison

Responsible for communicating ASDA’s national political efforts to the OHSU student body. Organizes funding efforts to send representatives to ASDA National Lobby Day. This is done by submitting letters to the Dean of OHSU School of Dentistry, the Oregon Dental Association, and various local dental societies requesting funding. Carries out all activities dictated by the ASDA national Legislative Consultants and the Legislative Regional Coordinator, such as letter-writing campaigns, “meet and greets”, voter-registration drives, and ADPAC (American Dental Political Action Committee) drives. Participates in Oregon Dental Association meetings and activities. Must attend Tri-Regional Meetings and Annual Session. Writes articles for the Oralgonian.

 

Community Service Consultant

Organizes at least one community service activity per month. Works in conjunction with OHSU and the ODA to promote the Give Kids a Smile program established by the ADA. May attend Tri-Regional meetings or Annual Session depending on funding. Writes articles for the Oralgonian.

 

ODA Trustee and Alternate Trustee

Both must attend the ODA House of Delegates meetings.
The ODA Trustee will serve as an advisory role to all students serving in the ODA (trustees and delegates). Both must attend the ODA Board of Trustees meetings and present a report to ASDA officers. Furthermore, they must vote in the best interest of OHSU’s student body at all Board of Trustee meetings. Issues must be presented to the OHSU student body via email and submitted as an article to the Oralgonian. May attend Tri-Regional meetings and Annual Session depending on funding.

 

Oralgonian Editor

In charge of publishing the Oralgonian once per quarter.

Responsible for collecting articles from OHSU’s ASDA executive council and any interested member of the student body. Responsible for promoting advertising space to dental related businesses in the region.
