Certificate: The graduate certificate program in Periodontology is designed to qualify candidates for specialty practice and examination for certification by the American Board of Periodontology. It is a 36 month, continuous program (12 academic quarters). The program consists of course work in the basic sciences, laboratory, theory, clinic, and research in related fields. The program begins on July 1 each year.

Completed PASS applications and all required supporting documentation received in the Office of Admissions by the specified PASS/Program deadline will be forwarded to the Department of Periodontology for review. Interviews are by invitation only and are granted to those applicants the present competitive applications. Applicants are generally notified of their status in December.

Master of Science Degree: A Master of Science degree in a basic science (e.g. oral molecular biology) may be completed along with the required course work for the graduate certificate. The graduate degree program is designed to provide the candidate with additional research and didactic experience to include a thesis or research paper.
