School of Dentistry strives to provide the
highest quality dental care for children.
In the Pediatric Dental Clinic, children are
treated by dental students under the
supervision of faculty instructors.
Patients are assigned to a student during
one of the following clinic sessions:
|
Tuesdays: |
9am-12pm, 2pm-5pm
|
|
Wednesdays: |
2pm-5pm
|
|
Thursdays: |
9am-12noon
|
Fees
for procedures done in the Dental Clinic are
about one half to two thirds of what they
would be in private practice. All fees
are expected to be paid at the time of treatment.
Who
is eligible for care?
In
general, children who are between the ages
of four and twelve are eligible for care in
the Pediatric Dental Clinic. Children must
be cooperative and not have any major medical
conditions. If you don't know how your child
will accept treatment, make an appointment
and we will determine if care is feasible.
Children who come to our clinic and cannot
be treated by one of our students will either
be referred to a pediatric dentist on the
faculty or one in the community. Children
who require care from other specialties (e.g.
orthodontics, oral surgery) will also be referred.
Starting July 2005, pediatric dentistry residency
program will provide patient services and
take over referrals.
What
can you expect in the clinic?
Children
accepted for care will be assigned to one
dental student. The student will contact you
to arrange an appointment for your child during
one of the Pediatric Dentistry Clinic sessions.
Appointments will generally last one and a
half to three hours. Faculty instructors supervise
all treatments provided by the students.
If
you wish to register your child for treatment
