Case #1:

31 year old male presented with this decayed tooth #4 and:
A 0.4 cm, ill-defined periapical radiolucency involving tooth #4.

A reasonable radiographic differential Dx:


Case #2:

74 year old retired farmer with:
Generalized red and white atrophic lower lip with an ill defined vermilion border and two brown crusted fissures.

A reasonable clinical differential Dx:


Case #3:

58 year old man with:
A 7 x 5 x 2 cm mass in the left submandibular region covered by normal colored skin.

A reasonable clinical differential Dx:


Case #4:

This 32 year old woman has:
A 2.5 x 2.0 cm well-circumscribed radiolucency at the apex of endodontically treated tooth #9.

A reasonable radiographic differential Dx:

(Actual diagnosis was periapical actinomyces)


Case #5:

This 45 year old woman has:
A brown velvety ill-defined plaque involving the entire axillary region.

A reasonable clinical differential Dx:

(This was a case of acanthosis nigricans. Some of these cases are cutaneous markers for internal malignancy such as gastric carcinoma)


Case #6:

This 28 year old black female has:
A 4 x 4 x 2 cm normal colored mass of the left hard palate that crosses the midline.

A reasonable clinical differential Dx:

(This was a case of adenoid cystic carcinoma. Salivary gland neoplasm should always be high on your differential diagnosis when you have a palatal soft tissue mass.)
