Education and Background:

    Dr. David A. Covell, Jr. is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthodontics at the Oregon Health & Science University. He received his D.D.S. from theOhio State University (1991) and hisorthodontic specialty training and an M.S.D. at the University of Washington(1993). Prior to entering the field of dentistry, he received an M.A. in Biology fromS.U.N.Y. at New Paltz, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Yeshiva University (1986). He was an N.I.H. postdoctoral fellow at the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University. Positions previously held by Dr. Covell include Instructor in Anatomy, Ohio State University School of Medicine, Assistant Professor and Director of Orthodontic Research,University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, and Associate Professor and Acting Chair, Department of Orthodontics, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Covell’s present research interests include animal models and clinical studies investigating biological aspects of facial growth and orthodontic tooth movement.
