LCD Projector - ODA Conference Room
- Request the remote control for the projector from the Dean’s office.
- Point the remote control at the LCD projector and press the Standby/On button located at the top right corner of the remote control. The projector lamp will light up and the STANDBY/ON indicator on the projector will gin blinking green. When the power is completely on, the indicator will stop blinking and light green.
- Take out the laptop computer and set it in place. Take out the power cord for the laptop and plug it in.
- Find the connector near at the front of the room that fits the blue video port on the back of the laptop. Connect it to the laptop securely. For Mac notebooks, you’ll need an adapter supplied with the computer to convert from the DVI interface to the VGA connector. Turn on the laptop.
- For Windows, once the computer boots, and you are at the Novell logon box, you should be able to see the same thing through the projector that you see on the laptop screen. If this is not the case, try pressing the green key labeled “Fn” at the bottom left of the keyboard at the same time as the key labeled “F3” at the top left of the keyboard. This switches the video mode between laptop only, projector only, and laptop/projector together. For Macs, the video toggle is F7. The optimum resolution for the LCD projector is 1024 x 768 pixels. If the LCD projector displays a ‘No Signal’ message, press the RGB button on the remote control. The input should be RGB.
- Use the ZOOM and FOCUS buttons on the remote control to adjust the image on the screen.
- Press CTRL-ALT-DEL at the Novell login box, and then press enter to login as the default user.
- At this point, you should have a standard windows desktop, with icons for Microsoft Office, Groupwise, Internet Explorer, etc.
- When you are finished using the laptop, in the start menu, click “Shut Down”. In the window that pops up, select “Shut down” from the dropdown menu and click the OK button.
- Wait for the computer to turn all the way off, then disconnect the monitor cable from the laptop.
- Unplug the laptop and put it away with all of its cables.
- Point the remote control at the LCD projector and press the STANDBY/ON button at the top left corner of the remote control. The message ‘Power off?’ will appear on the screen for about 5 seconds. Press the STANDBY/ON button again while the message is still visible. The projector lamp will go off, and the STANDBY/ON indictor on the projector will begin blinking orange. Then the STANDBY/ON indicator will stop blinking and light to solid orange when the lamp cooling is complete.
