Theresa’s clinical skills include all of the surgical and non-surgical approaches for treating periodontal diseases. She also places dental implants and performs esthetic gum grafting procedures. She is an expert on substance abuse prevention and leader in tobacco cessation counseling for dental patients.

In 1975 she graduated as a dental hygienist from Allegany College of Maryland in her home town of Cumberland and in 1986 from the University of Maryland at Baltimore as a dentist. Her general practice residency was at the Harvard Teaching Hospitals and her periodontal residency/PhD was at the University of Rochester.

Theresa carries out clinical and basic science research at OHSU, including research on Naturopathic and Traditional Chinese Medicines for oral health. Theresa is single and loves boating, singing, Tango and bread baking. The youngest of eight children, she is aunt to 13 nieces and nephews, and great-aunt to 10 of their offspring.
