WALKING TOUR

The clinic is on the ground floor of the OHSU School of Dentistry. The windows of the endodontic operatories look out over a landscaped area in front of the school. The Endodontic/Periodontal Graduate Clinic was renovated in 1993 as a result of generosity of our many alumni. It easily meets the needs of six Endo residents and nine Perio residents. Each operatory is equipped with A-Dec equipment. Each Endodontic resident has his own operatory with a surgical operating microscope with video capabilities. Radiographic tube heads are shared between rooms and are enclosed in cabinets. Each resident is able to take digital radiographs and digital images through the operating microscope with the use of digital sensors, digital cameras, and personal laptops utilizing built in video capture cards operating on a wireless network. Each operatory is equipped with the latest piezoelectric ultrasonic equipment, apex locators, electric motors and handpeices for rotary instrumentation, System B's and Obtura II's for vertical compaction of warm gutta-percha. As you enter the clinic the residents' office is immediately on your left with the supervising endodontic faculty's office next to it. Each operatory has a chair mounted operating light that also provides an arm for the ultrasonic units and a secure arm and platform for the personal laptop. Another chair mounted pole provides over the patient delivery of instruments and handpieces. Portable carts provide additional working surface. The surgical operating microscopes are wall mounted in some of the rooms and free standing in others. A sterilization area is shared with the periodontal staff. The residents are able to experience six handed dentistry during surgical procedures as well as four handed dentistry with the two full time dental assistants.
