ENDODONTIC PAIN I

OBJECTIVES:

After these two literature sessions the postgraduate student should be able with the appropriate citation of the literature.

• Describe the different ways posttreatment pain have been measured.
• Describe the factors that have been purported and proven to increase or decrease posttreatment endodontic pain.
• Describe the effect of various intracanal medicaments on endodontic posttreatment pain.
• Describe the effect of systemic antibiotics on the incidence and severity of endodontic posttreatment pain.
• List and describe the incidence and severity of endodontic posttreatment pain in patients who present with none, mild, moderate, or severe pretreatment pain.
• Define and give the incidence for  “Endodontic Flare Up”.
