OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPLORE THE DENTAL PROFESSION
DENTAL EXPLORING PROGRAM
Meets One Evening Each Month (generally the second Wednesday) from November through May
High school students interested in the field of dentistry meet monthly in the evening for a short lecture presentation followed by a "hands-on" laboratory with current dental students assisting. Changing monthly topics include orthodontics, dental anatomy, oral surgery, dental implants, and restorative dentistry.
CHEM 199 ASPECTS OF DENTISTRY
Spring Term 2007
A career exploration course offered by Portland State University and the OHSU School of Dentistry and taught by School of Dentistry faculty. This P/NP course provides students an opportunity to attend faculty lectures, participate in "hands-on" activities and meet with dental students. Students must register for CHEM 199 through PSU to take this course.
OBSERVATIONS IN THE SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY
Interested individuals may observe or assist in the dental clinics at the School of Dentistry during the academic year. These visits are coordinated through Sharon Reams, School of Dentistry Clinic Administration, at (503) 494-4712.
OBSERVATIONS IN DENTAL OFFICES
One of the best ways to learn about the dental profession is to observe in a general dental office. General practitioners will be able to give you a realistic picture of the business and service aspects of the profession.
