OHSU
recognizes the importance of simulation
technology as a tool in the education of health care
providers. Its importance is rapidly expanding and will
become the standard in the new millennium. A
competent practitioner requires knowledge; technical
skills; communication skills; and the ability to work in
an interdisciplinary environment. Educators now have
the ability to expose participants to each of these areas.
Fortunately, critical events are rare in health care.
However, when they do occur the provider must be
prepared to manage the event in an effective and safe manner. The simulation
center will expose participants to critical events in a controlled, reproducible
environment.
Participants of full-scale
simulation will experience:
- ACLS and ATLS training.
- Realistic crisis
management without patient risk
- Advance critical
event training.
- Basic clinical
event management
- Basic and advanced
physiology and pharacology teaching applications.
- Interdisciplinary
and team training
- Leadership training.
