Lipoic Acid and Omega-3 Fatty Acids for Cognitive Impairment in Multiple Sclerosis

Study Purpose

The purpose of this study is to test whether lipoic acid plus omega-3 fatty acids can improve cognitive dysfunction in people with multiple sclerosis.

Medical Condition(s)

multiple sclerosis

Eligibility Criteria

-Be between the ages of 18 and 65 years
-Have a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis
-Have not taken fish oil or lipoic acid in the past two months
-Be impaired in at least one of four cognitive tests that will be administered at in-clinic screening
-Not taking coumadin (warfarin)
-Using a reliable form of contraception
-Able to read and write in English
