The Meaning of Dementia-related Changes in Persons with ADRD: An Interpretive Phenomenological Exploration of African American Family Caregivers’ Perceptions
The purpose of this study is to learn more about how African American caregivers understand the changes they see in family members due to dementia (memory loss).
African American caregivers for persons with dementia
Self-identify as African American
Over age 18
Live in Portland Metro Area
Provide care for at least 4 hours per month
Have been caring for person with dementia for at lease one month
18 - 100
Healthy Volunteers Needed
Duration of Participation
2 interviews 2-6 weeks apart.
1 observation session between the interviews (optional)

Caregivers will be given $20 per interview with nurse researcher. There will be no compensation for the optional observation session.
