Cardiovascular Inflammation Reduction Trial (CIRT)
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the study drug (methotrexate, along with folic acid) is effective in reducing heart attacks, strokes or death in people with type 2 diabetes or metabolic syndrome (a group of symptoms which increases the risk of heart disease and diabetes) who have already had at least 1 heart attack.
Diabetes and metabolic syndrome and the cardiovascular events that can occur in people with these conditions.
-Men and women age 18+
-Documented past history of heart attack or multivessel coronary artery disease
-History of type 2 diabetes or metabolic syndrome
Women who are able to become pregnant may not participate in this study.
