A Randomized Phase II Study of Afinitor (RAD001) vs. Sutent (Sunitinib) in Patients with Metastatic Non-Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma (ASPEN)

Study Purpose

The purpose of this study is to determine if either afinitor or sutent works better in treating patient's with metastitc non-clear cell renal cell carcinoma.

Medical Condition(s)

Kidney

Eligibility Criteria

* Subject's must have advanced renal cell carcinoma with a non-clear cell pathology. Pathology must be >50% papillary, chromophobe, or undifferentiated histology
* Subject's must be 18 or older
* Subject's must be 4 weeks out from radiation or surgury
* Subject's may not have had any prior systemic therapy for their RCC
