Chemoprevention of Prostate Cancer, HDAC Inhibition and DNA Methylation

Study Purpose

This study is being done to find out what effects Broccoli Sprout Extract (BSE) has on men who are at a high risk for prostate cancer.

Medical Condition(s)

Prostate Cancer or benign prostatic hyperplasia (also called BPH)

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for this study you must be a man, over the age of 21 who is scheduled to have a prostate biopsy.

You will be excluded if you have a diagnosis of liver disease or dementia, are allergic to broccoli, are using blood thinners, oral antibiotics, oral steroids, or BSE, are currently enrolled in another research study, have already undergone treatment for prostate cancer, or if our doctor believes you have a serious medical illness that might conflict with this study.

21 - 100

Healthy Volunteers Needed

No

Duration of Participation

You will be taking BSE or a placebo for 4 to 8 weeks and we will follow-up with you 30-days after your biopsy, for a total of 2-3 months.
