Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Education

Background

In compliance with federal regulation and OHSU institutional policy, all investigators, research staff, and other relevant personnel (those reasonably involved in the design and/or conduct of human, animal, applied and/or basic science research) must complete OHSU's Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) education. No activity resulting in data collection can be initiated or any human subjects enrolled until all key personnel have completed the required RCR modules.

What sections am I required to complete?

Everyone should complete RCR for All. Complete additional sections if they are relevant to the type of research you are involved in.

Responsible Conduct of Research
RCR for All The basics of conducting research at OHSU.
RCR Involving rDNA & Infectious Agents/Biological Toxins Federal and university policies for research involving recombinant DNA, infectious agents, & biological toxins.
RCR Involving Animal Subjects Federal, state, and university requirements for conducting research with live animals.
RCR Involving Human Subjects Federal, state, and university requirements for conducting research with human subjects or their information.
RCR Involving FDA Regulated Products Federal and university requirements for research using FDA regulated products.
RCR Infectious Substance Shipping* Requirements for packing and/or shipping infectious materials (including human or animal blood, body fluids, and tissues; pathogens including genetically modified micro-organisms; or other biological products.)

Individuals at the Marquam Hill campus should complete the online training at http://ozone.ohsu.edu/ehrs/mh/pages/gen/train.shtml before taking the package to the designated shipping location.

Live training is offered at the West Campus and should be completed before any hazardous materials are offered for transport. A schedule of training sessions is available by contacting EH&RS at 748-1501.
