| What is Human Subect Research? |

The Code of Federal regulations defines Research as:
A systematic investigation, including research development, testing
and evaluation, designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge.

and defines Human Subjects as:
...living individual(s) about whom an investigator (whether professional
or student) conducting research obtains (1) data through intervention or
interaction with the individual , or (2) identifiable private information.

- Research Development Administration has implemented a new IRB fee structure
for industry sponsored human subjects research.
- The IRB retains 100% of industry sponsored human subject research fees.
(The IRB previously retained 70% of the fee and the principal investigator's
department retained 30% for overhead costs.)

Oregon Health & Science University requires all investigatores that
are conducting human subjects research to respect and protect the rights
and welfare recruited for, and/or participating in, research under the supervision
of OHSU. As part of this commitment, Responsible
Conduct of Research education is required of all investigators, research
staff, and other relevant personnel. |
