This two-day regional conference brings in nationally recognized speakers
to discuss basic and advanced emerging issues in human research protections.
What Are the Basics and Beyond?
An interactive conference, with common themes concerning ethics of human
subjects research presented as plenary topics, and working group sessions
organized by focus interest areas. Emphasis will be on sharing challenges,
pitfalls, and solutions.
May 3rd - The Basics: PRIM&R IRB 101 On the Road
Day one workshop will review the history and ethics of human subjects
research, the federal regulations related to the conduct of research
on human subjects, and relevant case studies. PRIM&R faculty will spend
the morning session reviewing the history and ethics of human research,
as well as the federal rules and regulations that govern research. The
afternoon session will focus on applying these principles to case studies,
and discussing ethical issues that arise in both social science and biomedical
research.

May 4th - Looking Beyond: The Future of Human Subjects Protection
Day two consists of presentations by nationally recognized keynote speakers
and several breakout sessions to discuss the latest developments in the
field regarding: socio-behavioral and biomedical studies, genetic research,
complementary and alternative medicine, individual and institutional
conflict of interest, HIPAA, consent form writing and moving your IRB
into the electronic age.
