Charles E. Drum JD, Ph.D.

. is Assistant Director of CDRC for Public Health, Community Outreach and Policy. He is the founding Director of the Center on Community Accessibility (CCA) and the Director of the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Health and Wellness at the Oregon Institute on Disability & Development, and an Associate Professor of Public Health and Prevention Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Drum earned his M.S. (Public Affairs) and J.D. (Law) from the University of Oregon, and Ph.D. from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. His research focuses on health, health-related quality of life, community development, and accessibility issues for persons with disabilities.

Dr. Drum is the author of more than 45 articles, reports, and monographs on disability issues, seven training curricula, and is he the lead editor of the first text book on disability and public health, which is being co-published by the American Public Health Association and the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Sping 2009. Dr. Drum was a gubernatorial appointee to the Oregon Council on Developmental Disabilities, served on the US Surgeon General's Task Force on Health Disparities and Mental Retardation and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's Healthy People 2010 Chapter 6 Work Group, and a member of the Oregon Partnership for Cancer Control, Cancer Disparities Workgroup.

Dr. Drum is member of the Constituent Committee of the US Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Disability, the Governing Council of the American Public health Association (representing the Disability Section), and the Board of Directors of the American Association on Health and Disability. In 2008, he received the OHSU Distinguished Faculty Award for Collaboration.

In October 2009, Dr. Drum recieved The National Distinguished Disability Research Award from the Southwest Conference on Disability.
