Angela Weaver, M.Ed.

., has worked in the disability field for over twenty years and received her Masters in Education, Special Needs Education, at Colorado State University. She works with a wide variety of individuals, families, and professionals to promote independence and inclusion for children, youth and adults with disabilities.

Angela is currently working on several projects within OIDD. She is working with colleagues with the Center on Self -Determination in developing the Community Partnership Council that supports people with disabilities and their families to be active members of their communities and take steps to improve the quality of life of all Oregonians with disabilities.

Angela is also the Project Coordinator for the Oregon Office on Disability and Health and works with multiple community partners to promote the health and wellness of people with disabilities. Some of the health promotion activities include, producing a newsletter, conducting an annual Wellness conference, facilitating Healthy Lifestyle workshops, implementing and supporting worksite health promotion programs, and presenting at local and national conferences.

Fnally, Angela is the project coordinator for the Making It Real: Participatory Action Research (PAR) in UCEDDs project. The purpose of this 2 year project is to develop a PAR Toolkit of resources, promising practices and tools to assist individuals with developmental disabilities, their family members, and UCEDD programs with successful and meaningful strategies for partnering in research.

Angela’s interests and activities include health promotion for teens and adults with disabilities, transition issues for youth with disabilities, developing and maintaining partnerships between community members with disabilities, their family members and OIDD’s researchers and program staff, and disability advocacy within public health. She serves on several state and national councils and committees related to disabilities and/or disability and health.
