OHSU Center on Self Determination

The Center on Self-Determination (CSD)

The OHSU Center on Self-Determination (CSD) identifies, develops, and shares approaches that promote the self-determination of, and leadership by, people with disabilities and their families. Founded in 1996, the Center on Self-Determination is celebrating its 13th anniversary this year.

Dean Westwood, MSW, was serving as Interim Director and has been named as the permanent director of the CSD. Mr. Westwood is an expert in the areas of Participatory Action Research and Community Involvement and is leading efforts to seek community and partner input for larger efforts of the Oregon Institute on Disability & Development (OIDD). The Center on Self-Determination partners with the Community Partners Council to work towards participatory action research and true community involvement at OHSU.

Community Partner's Council Recruitment

The Center on Self Determination is recruiting for members of the Oregon Institute on Disability and Development's (OIDD’s) Community Partner's Council (CPC). For more information, visit the CPC webpage.

Resources

We are interested in providing the community with resources relevant to self-determination and people with disabilities.  Among the resources we have compiled are Airline Resources from Dean Westwood’s extensive personal knowledge and applied research for travel for people with disabilities.  We also have resources available regarding partnering with the research community.  Please visit our resource page here, or contact us for more information.
