Ruza Antonovic Education Center

The Ruza Antonovic Education Center is a suite of rooms, located on the 10th floor of the South Hospital on the Oregon Health Sciences University campus. The suite is located between the clinical radiology area and the Department of Radiology administrative offices.

Dedicated to the memory of Dr. Ruza Antonovic, the center provides a comprehensive educational resource in diagnostic imaging, with special emphasis on digital teaching materials, for residents, fellows, technologists, students and faculty of Oregon Health Sciences University. By special arrangement, the facility and resources are also available to professional visitors and members of the community.

The Education Center is adjacent to the pre-existing library and conference room, and consists of 3 adjacent rooms, which have been recently remodeled by a special endowment by the faculty of the OHSU Department of Radiology. The remodeled area has been recently furnished with special educational resources by funds provided by the benefactors of the Ruza Antonovic Education Fund. In its present form, the Education Center has of the following features:

Medical student education room (room 10B76, 100 sq. ft.):
This room is specifically reserved and designed for medical students. It contains a high-end computer, textbooks and special teaching files that target basic areas of interest and importance to medical students or non-radiologist clinicians.

Digital study room (room 10B83, 100 sq. ft.):
This room contains two high-end, multi-media computers with large, high-resolution monitors. These computers are capable of quickly displaying and manipulating images from a variety of digital sources. The room also boasts more than 100 digital (primarily CD-based) educational collections, many of which were purchased by the Ruza Antonovic Education Fund.

General and digital archival room (room 10B80, 200 sq. ft.):
This room serves as the archival center for Dr. Ruza Antonovic's extensive teaching file (both films and slides), the donated teaching files of several other faculty members, and the ACR teaching file. The room also contains a digital camera system for converting film to digital format, a slide scanner, and a high-end computer for the manipulation of the digital images. The computer is connected to the radiology PACS network and has the capacity to archive digital images in a number of ways, including to CD's and to the network-based PACS storage system.

This Ruza Antonovic Education Center complements the educational facilities provided by the pre-existing Radiology Library and Conference Room (room 10B74, 450 sq. ft.). The library contains over 500 bound textbooks of diagnostic imaging reside, as well as over 500 bound volumes of archived radiology journals. The Radiology Library subscribes to more than 20 radiological journals. A large conference table provides space for meetings of various types.
