Crime Preventions Consultation
The Public Safety staff is available to assess the security needs and opportunities of all OHSU facilities. Upon request, we will schedule an appointment to review physical security concerns (e.g., locks, doors, access control, parking areas, lighting, etc.), personal security concerns, and any other topic related to the safety and security of our community. To make an appointment or consult with Public Safety, call dispatch at 4-7744 and ask to speak with the administrative lieutenant.

Door Unlock
Officers may unlock facility doors for faculty members, students, and staff, provided the requestor has current OHSU photo I.D., is authorized access to the area, and has a demonstrated need to be in the area. Anyone requiring a door unlock should call dispatch at 4-7744. Please note that, depending on staffing levels and priority incidents, there may be a short delay.

Escorts
Public Safety Officers will provide safety escorts for employees, visitors, patients, and students to all locations within the Marquam Hill campus. Anyone requiring an escort should call Dispatch at 4-7744. Please note that, depending on staffing levels and priority incidents, there may be a short delay.

Helping Motorists
Motorists requiring assistance should call dispatch at 4-7744. Please note that, depending on staffing levels and priority incidents, there may be a short delay.  Response times for non-emergency service calls average approximately five minutes. Public Safety will either provide the phone number of a qualified vendor to assists the motorist or place the call for the motorist. Due to the increased level of electronic equipment and other devices inside of vehicle doors, Public Safety is NOT able to open locked vehicles.
Public Safety may provide motorists with the following services: 
  • Dead Batteries
  • Lost Vehicles
  • Out of Gas vehicles: Public Safety is not able to provide gas or other fuel, but will assist motorists by providing a phone number for a qualified vendor (e.g., Automobile Club, service station, etc.) or placing the call for the motorist. 
  • Vehicle Lock-outs: Public Safety will respond to requests for assistance when a motorist is locked out of a vehicle, but may not be able to provide this service for all vehicle types, or at all times of the day.  

Keys: Ordering Door Keys and Key Pick-up
If your department has ordered keys for you to use, you will be notified via email or campus mail that your key(s) are ready to be picked up. Please bring your OHSU ID badge with you. We cannot allow the release any key(s) without an current OHSU ID badge. *You may designate a person from your office to pick up your keys.
*To designate a coworker to pick up your building key(s), you will have to write a note of permission and give the designee your ID badge to bring to the office. That person will also need their OHSU ID badge for the key(s) to be released.

Safety Supervision
Public Safety officers are available to stand by for immediate assistance whenever safety is a concern. To request such a response, call dispatch at 4-7744 and ask to speak with either the community relations lieutenant or the on-duty operations lieutenant or supervisor.
