Dr. Michael is a social epidemiologist with an interest in healthy
aging, cancer prevention, and community-based approaches to improving
health. Current research includes an investigation of neighborhood-level
determinants, including social and physical environment, of health
and health behaviors among older adults. Other research includes
evaluating the intersection of race/ethnicity, socioeconomic conditions,
and psychosocial factors, such as social isolation and psychosocial
stress, on receipt of routine breast cancer screening among postmenopausal
women.
