Experience and Interests
Dr. James has taught biostatistics, medical research design and mathematics since 1969. He currently teaches a course in clinical trials, serves as a course advisor for two MPH students and is a member of the MPH advisory committee. He is an experienced researcher and administrator in biomedical and health services clinical trials, being responsible for the management of clinical trials coordinating centers for eighteen years and involved in the conduct of multicenter studies in clinical and health services research since 1971. He is a Senior Biostatistician in the Portland Veterans Affairs Health Services Research and Development Program and the and the VA Cooperative Studies Program. He is associated with the Cooperative Studies Program Coordinating Center in Palo Alto, California. He serves as the biostatistician to two multicenter center behavioral science and provides biostatistical consulting to investigators in basic and clinical research at the Portland VA Medical Center.
