RESIDENTS' CALL SCHEDULE

OHSU Psychiatry Service
PGY-1's and PGY-2's take short call while on the OHSU Psychiatry Service every four to five days until 8 p.m. when the night float begins accepting further admissions. Long call on Fridays and weekends is typically taken twice per month, and lasts 24 hours from 8 a.m. until 8 a.m. the following day. Otherwise, weekends are free.

VAMC Psychiatry Service
Residents rotating on the psychiatry service at the VAMC take 24-hour call from home every fourth to fifth night.

Non-Psychiatry Services
Interns on the General Medicine and Neurology services take call according to those department schedules. Currently, call is 24 hours every fourth night, with one scheduled day off per week. When not on call, no new admissions are taken on weekends, but morning work rounds must be completed daily.

Third and Fourth Year Residents
Third and fourth year residents take back-up call from home every fifth night, and situations requiring their presence on the wards do not typically arise. Third and Fourth year residents do in home back up to help interns through their first 3 calls.

House Officer Salaries
2006-2007

Annual salary is determined by the resident's level of postgraduate training completed within the United States.

Benefits include medical malpractice, life, disability and health insurance. Additional coverage is available for spouses, dependents and same-sex domestic partners.
