Jenny Tsai Receives 2004 Pilot Research Award from AACA

JENNY TSAI, M.D., Assistant Professor in the OHSU Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, is recipient of the 2004 American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) Pilot Research Award for Attention Disorders for Junior Faculty and Child Psychiatry Fellows.

Supported by AACAP’s Elaine Schlosser Lewis Fund, the award provides pilot research funding to a junior researcher to support the continued research, education and support of children, adolescents and families affected by attention disorders, such as Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Dr. Tsai's research project is entitled, “Correlation of ADHD Symptoms and Sleep in the Developmentally Delayed: A Prospective Case Controlled Study.” She will present her research findings at the AACAP 2004 Annual Meeting in Toronto.

Dr. Tsai also works closely with Keith Cheng, M.D., medical director, and Dave Kinzie, M.D., director of the Intercultural Child Traumatic Stress Center (ICTSC), part of the OHSU Intercultural Psychiatric Program providing evaluations and treatment for child and adolescent patients from 20 countries. During 2003-04, she worked with visiting Ugandan child psychiatrist, Dr. Ruth Kizza, to develop an intake tool for comparing demographic and treatment data from refugee trauma centers around the country for future research. Dr. Kizza will also use the intake forms in Kampala, Uganda, to promote an international research collaboration.
