Dr. Wheler treats patients who suffer from anxiety and stress-related mental health problems. He has collaborated with endocrinologist, Lynn Loriaux, M.D., Ph.D., in studying Cortisol production rates as a marker for stress in PTSD and with psychiatrist, J. David Kinzie, M.D., Director of the Torture Treatment Center of Oregon, on the effects of stress from an endocrinological perspective. He is also interested in the study of the role of peptides, taurine, transmitters and receptors in brain malfunction, and the effects of stress on development and aging.
