Clinical and Scholarly Interests:
Dr. Van Male joined the clinical staff of the Mental Health Division at the Portland VA Medical Center and was appointed
to the faculty of the Division of Psychology in the OHSU Department of Psychiatry in 2000. She is a clinical psychologist
and a member of the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Clinical Team at the Portland VA where she works with female
veterans who are survivors of sexual abuse and/or rape, and provides individual, marital, family, and group services to
veterans with PTSD. She also supervises and trains psychology interns, serves on the Portland VA Psychology Internship
Training Committee, co-chairs a subcommittee on intern research activities, and serves on the PVAMC Behavioral Emergency
Committee, Threat Assessment Team, and Non-Offensive Management of Dangerous Behaviors Training Team.
Dr. Van Male is currently assisting principle investigator, Miles McFall, PhD, VA Puget Sound, and Keith Campbell, PhD, PVAMC,
in a research study titled "Nicotine Dependence Treatment Project." In addition, she works as a therapist with principal investigator,
Irene Powch, PhD, in a study of Present-Centered Therapy titled, "A Randomized Clinical Trial of Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment
for PTSD in Women."
