Academic and Clinical Experience
Prior to joining the faculty of OHSU in 1957, Dr. Matarazzo was a research fellow at Harvard Medical School
from 1955-57 and a staff psychologist at Massachusetts General Hospital from 1956-57. She was an Assistant
Professor in Medical Psychology at the University of Oregon Medical School from 1957-63, and an Associate
Professor from 1963-68. She was promoted to Professor in 1968, and in 1997 became Professor Emerita.
In addition to her work as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Matarazzo has taught and supervised medical students as well as
psychology and psychiatry residents and fellows. She has published widely both in texts and peer reviewed journals,
co-authored Behavioral Approaches to Rehabilitation: Coping with Change (Springer, New York, 1992),
and has served on numerous editorial review boards. Over the years, she has also provided consultation to
institutions and social services agencies, including Job Corps, Portland Center for Hearing and Speech, Oregon
Division of Continuing Education, Children's Services Division, Oregon Board of Medical Examiners, Social
Security Administration, and others.
Dr. Matarazzon has been listed in American Men and Women of Science, Who's Who of American Women,
Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the World.
