A native of the Pacific Northwest, Pamela Edwards, M.D., received her degree in medicine at St. Louis University, and then returned to Oregon to do her psychiatry residency training at OHSU. Upon graduation in 1993, she accepted an invitation to join the faculty, and served as assistant director of Outpatient Psychiatry at OHSU from 1993 to 1994 and as director of the Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic from 1995 to 2002.

Currently, in addition to treating adult patients through the Department of Psychiatry Faculty Practice, Dr. Edwards is a staff psychiatrist in the Intercultural Psychiatric Program, where she sees immigrant and refugee patients from war-torn countries, many of whom suffer from post-traumatic-stress disorders.

Dr. Edwards is deeply interested in providing mental health support and treatment to disaster victims. She was a physician volunteer for Northwest Medical Teams International as part of the relief effort for the survivors of the earthquake in Turkey in 2000. After 9/11, she was a physician volunteer and team leader providing emergency mental health services at Ground Zero. She is director of the Oregon Psychiatric Association's Disaster Response Program.
