Clinical Interests:
Dr. Hancey was invited to join the Department of Psychiatry upon completion of the OHSU Psychiatry
Residency Training Program in 1990. He was a staff psychiatrist at the Mental Health Clinic at the
Portland VA Medical Center from 1990 to 1994, where he treated patients for psychiatric disorders related
to substance abuse. In 1991, Dr. Hancey became director of the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Clinic
in the Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic. He also leads an OCD support group which has met on
the first and third Thursdays of each month since 1992. He was selected as one of The Best Doctors in America: Pacific
Region in 1996-97 and again in 1998-99. His areas of special interest are anxiety disorders, eating disorders,
panic disorder, and obsessive- compulsive disorder.
