Research and Academic Interests:

Dr. Casey's current research interests span clinical and preclinical studies in biological psychiatry, with emphasis on schizophrenia, tardive dyskinesia, and other movement disorders. Research with newly approved novel drugs and experimental agents that influence several different neurotransmitter mechanisms are of special interest. He has published numerous articles, edited books and extensively lectured on these topics. Additionally, he is on the editorial board of several journals in neuroscience. Dr. Casey chaired the FDA Psychopharmacologic Drugs Advisory Committee for over six years, during which time several new novel medicines for psychiatric disorders were approved. He has combined academia, regulatory, and pharmaceutical industry activities to gain insights into the complexities of drug development and the regulatory process.
