Research & Academic Interests:
Dr. Green is a sociologist with interests in mental health and substance abuse services research and health promotion. Her background includes clinical training in psychology, an M.P.H. in epidemiology and biostatistics, and a post-doctoral fellowship in health services research. She is interested in recovery, health promotion, quality of life, and caregiving among people with serious mental illnesses, and in medical and substance abuse disorders that co-occur with mental health problems. She currently leads a study designed to identify factors that facilitate recovery from serious mental illness, and another assessing how gender, alcohol use, and other health-related practices affect willingness to seek health care services. Pending research proposals include a project that will develop a future care-planning intervention for families and individuals with mental illness, cognitive disabilities, or physical disabilities, and a study of the full range of care, and associated costs, of elderly individuals with serious mental illness.
