Clinical & Academic Interests:
William L. Brown, MD, has been a member of the OHSU Psychiatry faculty since 1995.
He graduated from Reed College in 1983 and then worked as a research technician in psychiatry
at the Portland VA Medical Center from 1985 to 1987. He attended medical school at OHSU from
1987 to 1991 where he received the McGraw-Hill Book Award for high academic performance, a Tartar
Trust Fellowship, 1988-1989, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1991. He trained in general psychiatry
at OHSU and was chief psychiatry resident and a Mead-Johnson Fellow from 1994-1995.
Dr. Brown has been a consultant to the Multnomah County Health Department since 1995. He is an
attending psychiatrist for Oregon State Hospital, Portland, where he also teaches and supervises general
psychiatry residents.
Dr. Brown's research interests are in the areas of psychopharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and tardive
dyskinesia.
