Clinical and Academic Interests:
Brinda Krishnan received her degree in medicine from Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, Virginia, in 2000. She moved to Oregon for her residency training in General Adult Psychiatry at OHSU, and joined the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry upon graduation in the spring of 2004.
While still a resident, Dr. Krishnan was active in SAWERA (South Asian Women's Empowerment and Resource Alliance), a non-profit organization providing culturally appropriate services to South Asian victims of domestic violence. Dr. Krishnan served as President of SAWERA, Direct Services Chair, and on the Board of Directors. In 2003, she received the Oregon Department of Justice Star Advocacy Award in recognition of her work on behalf of crime victims in Oregon.
Dr. Krishnan provides therapy to refugee and immigrant patients with mental health problems in the OHSU Intercultural Psychiatric Program. She treats patients with mental health, substance abuse, and/or gambling problems at the OHSU Behavioral Health Clinic. She also provides treatment to patients of the Mid-Columbia Center for Living through the OHSU Public Psychiatry Program. Her areas of special interest are intercultural psychiatry, women's heath, and community psychiatry. Dr. Krishnan participates as a teacher and supervisor in the residency training and medical education programs at OHSU.
